Description

Donnelley Financial Solutions is seeking a NOC Engineer with strong Zabbix and/or Datadog background and PowerShell skills to maintain and enhance existing monitors while migrating our current monitoring platform from Zabbix and PowerShell scripts to Datadog. We need someone who can hit the ground running. You’ll be joining a NOC Team of talented engineers with a focus on enterprise-wide monitoring and problem remediation. You’ll work in a collaborative environment, listen to and anticipate the needs of teams throughout the organization and provide specialized monitoring solutions while helping us to build a strong, responsive NOC Team.

Responsibilities
  • Ensures high availability and acceptable levels of performance of mission critical host computer resources.
  • Maintain essential IT operations, including operating systems, security tools, applications, servers, email systems, SaaS applications, software, and hardware.
  • Competency in writing and maintaining custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower downtime due to required human intervention.
  • Monitor datacenter health using preexisting management tools and respond to system issues as they arise.
  • Configuring, testing and maintaining operating systems, application software and the underlying virtual environment.
  • Recognize when something isn’t ideal, propose a solution and work through change control to implement.
  • Work with application support groups and outside vendors to resolve problems or issues.
  • Performs administration tasks including user/group administration, security permissions, group policies, systems configuration, research event log warnings and errors, and resource monitoring.
  • Create and maintain documentation as it relates to corporate applications, support and processes.
  • Administer on-call and after-hours technical support during monthly scheduled outages and unscheduled emergency situations.
  • Manage incoming help tickets and assign appropriately.
  • Provide operational support via email, ticketing system, chat and phone.
  • Escalate issues to appropriate teams within IT as needed.
  • Working tickets & requests from start to finish with a high level of customer service & communication.
Qualifications

  • Zabbix or Datadog--minimum 2 years experience implementing and maintaining system monitors.
  • Proven scripting skills--minimum 2 yrs PowerShell.
  • Deploying, maintaining, and administering Windows Server--minimum 2 years experience
  • BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a similar field or 5 or more years of relevant work experience.


Preferred Skills

  • Linux management experience.
  • Experience with maintaining, and administering a VMware environment.
  • Experience managing Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience managing AWS.
  • Proven experience with systems planning, security principles, and general software management best practices.
  • Ability to consistently identify critical elements, variables and alternatives to develop solutions.
  • Ability to organize/prioritize existing resources and incorporate new information, as needed, to implement the most effective solutions. 
  • Ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language.
  • Ability to apply excellent business acumen and collaborative skills when resolving problems.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
