Short Description

Troubleshoot, repair, install, modify, test & maintain new and existing electrical/electronic circuits, systems, components and controls of building & manufacturing equipment. Install, modify & repair electrical/electronic systems, apparatus and components of new & existing building & manufacturing equipment & controls while following guidelines of the National Electrical Code, Local Electrical Code, schematic diagrams, manufacturers manuals & specifications. Use laptop computer, internet, telephone support, email, electrical/electronic test equipment, handtools and power tools required to perform job functions.

Work Practices
Technical/Functional Skills

Apply expert level electr theory and related knowl to the operation, troubleshooting, repair and inst of a variety of electr/electronic systems and equip., ex: single and multi phase alt current circuits of varying voltage, current and freq; DC power and control circuits; 480 VAC 3 Phase power wiring, distribution and control systems in an industrial environment. Gather and analyze data to help identify and resolve problems in a timely manner. Understand use of computers and lab electr/electronic test equip. Have knowl of wire sizes and types, conduits, couplings, fittings, electr boxes, circuit breakers and other electr control devices with the ability to arrange and install them in a way that insures proper and safe operation relative to the NTL and Local electr Code. Be able to read and interpret bldg system blueprints and MFG equip. electr drawings, wiring diagrams and schematics; use trade formulas to calc properties of AC and DC electr circuits ex: voltage, current, power and resist; use the Nat'l electr Code to determine required size and type of wire, conduit, wireways, electr boxes, and circuit protection of AC and DC electr circuits. Understand the use of PLCs, PLC prgmming software, local and distributed I/O systems, DC drives, AC variable freq drives. Able to use a laptop computer or provided interface to upload/download prgms and parameters into assoc controllers. Advanced use of computers running Windows and MS Office. Provide leadership, guidance, instruction and assistance to other ETs. wk directly with Plant electr Eng on productivity improv and capital projects, take direct wk assign and complete with min supervision. Display the highest level of responsibility for minimizing equip. downtime and keeping Mgmt and Eng advised in extended periods of delay.

Apply principles of rational systems to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited stdzn exists. Interpret a variety of instr furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form
Apply math skill at first year university level - diff calculus and intro stats
Able to read and interpret wk instr, safety rules, instr. in the use and maint of shop tools and equip, methods and procedures in mech drawing, and layout wk. Able to communicate effectively using proper format, punctuation, spelling, and grammar, using all parts of speech
