Summary:
The Prepress Technical Support Specialist serves as a subject matter expert (SME) for prepress applications, systems, and workflows. This role is responsible for ensuring the stability, performance, and continuous improvement of prepress technology environments, while supporting internal teams, offshore partners, and external stakeholders. The position plays a critical role in troubleshooting technical issues, managing workflow systems, supporting production readiness, and driving process standardization and efficiency.
Responsibilities:
Prepress Systems & Technical Ownership
- Serve as SME for prepress systems, including Adobe Creative Suite and PDF tools
- Administer and maintain prepress servers (CF10, Asura, PitStop) to ensure performance and stability
- Optimize automated workflows, queues, and file processing systems
- Lead system upgrades, patching, and migrations with IT
- Test, validate, and deploy system enhancements
Technical Support & Troubleshooting
- Provide technical support to production, customer service, prepress, and offshore teams
- Diagnose and resolve workflow, file processing, and system issues
- Troubleshoot prepress hardware and print devices
- Investigate defects and support root cause analysis
- Support Help Desk escalations
Workflow Automation & File Management
- Design and enhance automated preflight and file workflows
- Perform preflight checks and quality validation (color, overprint/knockout, file integrity)
- Manage file transfers (SFTP, DFIN Workspace, vendor integrations)
- Coordinate vendor onboarding and system access
- Maintain and archive digital assets and native files
System Testing & Continuous Improvement
- Conduct UAT for prepress and production systems
- Drive workflow optimization, system enhancements, and process standardization
- Partner with IT and cross-functional teams on initiatives
- Provide feedback to improve system performance
Training & Collaboration
- Develop SOPs and technical documentation
- Train global teams on systems and best practices
- Represent prepress in cross-functional meetings
- Act as liaison between operations, IT, vendors, and production
Operational Support
- Provide technical expertise for job engineering and production setup
- Support projects and continuous improvement efforts
- Provide backup support for PPM functions
Qualifications:
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 5+ years of experience in prepress, print production, manufacturing operations, or technical production support
- 3+ years of hands-on experience supporting prepress workflows, file processing, or print production systems
- Demonstrated proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) and PDF tools
- 2+ years of experience working with preflight software and workflow tools (e.g., PitStop, Asura, or similar)
- Experience managing or supporting automated workflows, file processing systems, or production queues
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s degree or technical certification in Graphic Communications, Print Technology, IT Systems, or related field
- Prior experience onboarding vendors or supporting external system integrations and secure file transfers
- Experience developing and delivering technical training or SOP documentation for operations or production teams
- Demonstrated experience contributing to continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., workflow optimization, defect reduction, automation enhancements)
- Effective written and verbal communication skills with experience collaborating across 3+ functional groups (e.g., IT, production, customer service)
